Dane McBride, M.D.
Dr. McBride is a practicing allergist living in Roanoke, VA since 1985. He is Board certified in both Pediatrics and in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He received his B.S. degree in French from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1972, and his M.D. degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, in 1976. He then entered active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Corps starting out in a flexible internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu for one year, then continued at Tripler another three years in a pediatrics residency. From 1981-1983, he was a fellow in training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center/National Jewish Asthma Center in Denver, CO, under the tutelage of Dr. Harold S. Nelson. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia, and participates in the teaching of medical students and residents at the Carilion Medical Center in Roanoke. He has served in various offices of the Asthma and Allergy Society of Virginia, including President from 2006-2008. He is the senior and managing physician member of the Asthma and Allergy Centers of Roanoke and Lynchburg, a practice that celebrated its 60th year of continuous service in 2008.He and his family are actively involved in their church community, as well as in local and national political campaigns and causes. He has served since 1999 on the Board of Trustees of Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, VA.

Luis Matos, M.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Matos is Board Certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and in Pediatrics. He is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Asthma and Allergy Society of Virginia, Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and in private practice with the Asthma and Allergy Centers of Roanoke and Lynchburg Virginia. He is an honor graduate of the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor of Sciences degree, where he also received his medical degree. He completed Pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center Houston and Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas. He returned to Wilford Hall for specialty training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He earned an MBA degree from Webster University in St. Louis Missouri. He came to Virginia after completing a successful 20-year career in the military, equally divided between the US Air Force and the US Army. At his last assignment, he served as Chief of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Landstuhl Medical Center and was Consultant to the Surgeon General of 7th Medical Command, US Army Europe.

He and his family reside in Botetourt County, near Roanoke, Virginia. His outside interests include restoring the American chestnut, raising threatened or endangered heritage breeds of poultry and advocating for various issues of social justice.

Saju Eapen, M.D.
Dr. Eapen is a practicing allergist who has been with our practice since 2001. He is Board Certified in both Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Eapen did his Internal Medicine residency at University of Illinois and completed his fellowship training at University of Wisconsin, where he had the opportunity to train with some of the leading researchers / clinicians in the field of Asthma and Allergy, including Dr. William Busse, Dr. Robert Lemanske, Dr. Robert Bush and Dr. James Gern.

Academically, Dr. Eapen is an assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia and actively participates in teaching medical residents. Dr. Eapen has published both textbook chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. His special areas of interest include allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis (eczema) and food allergy. Dr. Eapen is a member of various national and state medical organizations.

He and his wife are active members of their community and their church. They enjoy spending time with their two children.

Thomas Fame, M.D.
Dr. Fame has been practicing in Salem since 1992, and he is Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology. He moved from Denver, Colorado where he trained at the internationally-acclaimed National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine. Prior to his allergy training, he practiced as a Board Certified Pediatrician in the U.S. Air Force, until being Honorably Discharged after 11 years of service. He has received multiple honors including being consistently voted "Top Doc" by The Roanoker Magazine and "Best Bedside Maner" award from Our Health Magazine. He was awarded the prestigious "Dr Thomas Frist Humanitarian Award" from Lewis-Gale Hospital for his work building and running schools in rural Haiti since 1996. He is the author of the book The Lambi's Call about Haiti, and was also awarded "Salem-Roanoke County Citizen of the Year" in 2010.

Dr. Fame lives in Salem, where his three girls graduated and are now living in Boston, Dallas, and Fredricksburg, VA.

Larissa Norman, FNP, AE-C
Larissa is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and certified as an asthma educator with experience in women’s health, pediatrics and adult care. She worked for Asthma and Allergy Associates under Dr Robert Miles for the first 6 months after graduation until his retirement and now for Asthma and Allergy Center of Lynchburg the past year.

She received an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Nursing at Wytheville Community College in 1995 and began working at Lynchburg General Hospital in the cardiac unit, where after 2 years she became charge nurse. She then received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Liberty University in 2000, while also gaining critical care experience in medical, surgical, neurological and cardiac intensive care units. Larissa then earned a Masters degree and completed her training for Family Nurse Practitioner at Old Dominion University in 2006 where she specialized in ear, nose and throat studies. During this time, she had the opportunity to teach undergraduate nursing students at Liberty University as well as serve as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students from James Madison University. She has also completed training for asthma educator certification and is awaiting the exam.

Larissa and her family reside in Forest, Virginia just outside of Lynchburg. She is married to John, a firefighter/paramedic for Lynchburg Fire Department and flight paramedic for Virginia State Police Med-Flight III program. Her interests include spending time with her family, church activities, and attending her children’s programs and sporting events. Larissa also participates in karate, scrapbooking and promoting community health. She is also an avid runner and is working toward her first marathon.
