Susan P. Jones, FNP
Susan Jones is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has practiced since graduating with her Master's Degree in 1999 from Old Dominion University.
Susan first became an RN through J. Sargeant Reynold's Community College, graduating in 1993, Phi Theta Kappa. While there, she also won the class "Med Surg Award" as a result of her outstanding clinical performance. While still in school, Susan began working in
her local hospital as a CNA. Upon graduation, she was hired as a day-time charge nurse on the same floor. She remained there for one year and eventually transferred to the Intensive Care Unit as a charge nurse.
Critical care became her home while she worked to earn her Bachelor's in Nursing and eventually her Master's Degree from Old Dominion University.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Susan began her work in Weldon, NC, just across the Virginia border from her home town of Emporia, VA. She worked with a 5 clinic Rural Health Group. She was responsible for providing care for a wide variety of patients, ranging in ages from 1 week old to elderly patients. Her main focus while there was Health Promotion.
After 4 years there, she was asked to join a large private practice in her home town of Emporia, VA. She worked in a Family Clinic and also did rounds at the local hospital, overseeing her patients in each phase of healthcare.
In 2006, Susan joined a rural health clinic, seeing patients of all ages. Her main focus while there was preventative care and managing chronic conditions, which is her greatest passion.
Susan is the mother of an adult son and she currently lives near Rocky Mount, VA. In her spare time, Susan enjoys spending time with her son and taking care of her horses.
